Clint’s 40th Birthday Weekend

Recap Time.

Clint’s 40th

image

Clint’s birthday was January 29th.  Sadly, I was out of town on a business trip so was unable to celebrate with him that day, but if you recall, I left him a few decorations to get him by until I returned.  🙂

He was able to meet his mom, stepdad and son, Kyle, for dinner that evening which made me feel so much better about being gone.   I was excited to get back Friday evening so he could open his gift from me!   This gift took me days of research you guys.  Seriously.

The anticipation… what is it?  Even Champ couldn’t wait to find out!

image

THAT, my friends, is a moonshine still.   I picked one out that he gets to actually solder together himself.  He is totally stoked.   Watch out, folks.    Pirtle Moonshine, coming right up!

Friday evening we chose to stay low-key because Saturday was a whole other story!   We traveled to Des Moines, IA where we met up with a group of friends that came in from all areas.  Clarinda, Cedar Rapids, lake of the Ozarks, Omaha … even VEGAS!   The look on Clint’s face when Cole walked into the bar we were at that afternoon was priceless.   Sadly for me my iPhone was being stupid and I didn’t catch it on camera.

We had a ton of fun walking around downtown Des Moines, even during the snow storm.   All that snow turned the men into 10 year old adolescents again.   I can’t even tell you how many snowball fights were had while we walked from bar to bar.   Priceless.

SUCH a fun night!

I think we all had a blast….

Until the drive home the next day.

Interstate was a bit sketchy…

Slow and steady won the race!

Cheers!

Happy 40th Birthday, Clint!

This stud muffin, aka my HUBBY, is 40 today!!!!!

And you know what else?  You guys are getting to see the fun decorations I have left behind for him LONG before he even thinks about getting out of bed today.  I am on my way out of town for two days (bummer) so decorating the house for him to wake up to is my way of ensuring he starts his day off special.  ❤

You have two weeks off? What are you going to do?

Yes…. I had two weeks off from work during the Holiday’s.  It was pure bliss!    People asked me what on earth would I do with that time..  Uh, are ya kidding?  Fill it with fun stuff, of course!   I promise – I had no trouble filling my days.

Let’s take a little walk down memory lane.

December 19th – my last day of work and first official evening off.   Spent the evening with fellow 24 Hour Group X instructors working out!

image

.

December 20th – bought a new Jeep Wrangler.  Totally got a smoking deal on it, plus they gave me more then what I owed for my Grand Cherokee..aka soccer mom car… so ya, duh.  I am going to buy it.

image

.

December 21st – Traveled to Mt Ayr, IA with this hunk-of-a-man for a family Christmas dinner

image

.

December 22nd – Taught Insanity, shopped, got a new tattoo

image

.

December 23rd – Taught Insanity, spent the morning at my friend Sara’s, snuggled on her baby Ady, watched Kaeleen run around like a wild woman and then subbed another Insanity class at Northpark 24 Hour and baked my little heart out!

image

.

December 24th – Two Family Christmases!

image

.

image

.

December 25th – MERRY CHRISTMAS!

image

image

December 26th – Day After Christmas 5 mile Run.   Whew!  Holy carbohydrates and wine.

image

.

December 27th:  Treated myself to a Starbucks, shopping and another run.  Only 4 miles this time around.  😉

image

.

December 28th – Last Christmas with the Pirtle’s!

image

Some wrestling happened.  Kind of like on Four Christmases but without the family drama.  ha!

image

.

image

.

December 29th:  Lunch date with my girl, Claire!   Then home for our new appliances delivery!  WOOT!  These were an extra special gift.  Thank you. 🙂

image

.

December 30th: Traveled to Clarinda to get my hair done – I went back blonde – and then had lunch with Kayla and Nicole. That turned into 5 hours, plenty of cocktails and a ton of laughter.  Gosh I love time with girlfriends. I don’t have a recent pic of the three of us, so I will do a fuzzy throwback.

image

December 31st:  Lunch date with my girl Jessica – you’re welcome for yet another throwback.

image

And then it was time for NEW YEARS EVE celebrations, baby!

image

.

January 1st:  A day spent at home organizing my new Insanity schedule and chatting with multiple folks about my next 21 day challenge!  We’ve got a LOT of peeps committed.   So excited for them and the transformations that are about to take place!

image

I am teaching a total of 8 classes.   There are two more that aren’t listed above because they are being offered to a private group.  I have my work cut out for me!  Whew!

.

January 2nd: A little Insanity practice, followed up by a lunch date with my girls Tyree and Sarah -> we taught together for several years at Buffett Middle School <- and her daughter Kennedy.  So great to catch up!

And THAT brings us to today!   I am actually picking UP my new Jeep this morning.  Finally, she is coming HOME!!!

EEKK!!!!!

And the rest of the weekend will be cleaning, laundry, packing for my new work schedule and meal prepping.

Have a super weekend, y’all!  I will catch back up with you again on Monday!

Cheers!

A Whole Lotta Christmas

image

Our little family had a LOT of great Christmas Celebrations this year.

Four down, one to go on Sunday!

Our first Christmas was held on Sunday the 21st in Mt. Ayr, Iowa at Clint’s uncle’s house.   We had a grab bag gift exchange, tons of snacks and Italian food.  It was a great evening, but shockingly, I didn’t take a single photo!   What’s wrong with me?!

Next up, Christmas Eve at my MIL’s house.   Debbie and Gaylen always out-do themselves with snacks, food, desserts, presents… the works.

image

I always have such a good time at their house, but this year seemed extra special for some reason.  The moods were light, the kids personalities were shining bright, the laughter was abundant, the food was delicious and the scattegories game was competitive.

I think a nap almost even happened!

image

And Clint educated us all that Mountain Dew tastes extra special out of a tin cup.  Pinky’s up!

image

Oh that man… I do love him so!

We soon found ourselves leaving Christmas #2 for Christmas #3 at my Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Craig’s house.

But FIRST we stopped by my fathers house to drop off allllllllllll the Christmas candy Clint and I had accumulated over the last few weeks.   This year marked the second Christmas I wouldn’t see my dad for reasons out of my control, but I made my presence known with my gift of sugary treats and other baked goods.

Keith – you’ve been elfed.

image

Finally we made our way to the Goecker’s.    We spent the evening sipping on ice cold beer, snacking on what seriously could be the most delicious homemade bread I have ever had, chatting with my grandpa, grandma, aunt, uncle, cousins and a few other fine folks before we made our way back to Omaha at the midnight hour.

Christmas Eve left my heart full and overflowing with love and happiness.

image

Christmas Day.   Oh, what a day.  We started the morning opening presents with our little family of three.

image

Boy did we make a mess!

image

Care for a game of Where’s Champ?

image

We all fared well this Christmas.   Everything from Converse Chucks, remote control trucks, gym mats, truck parts, truck radios, camo, Canon Rebel T5i <—eek!!!, among other items.    We seriously go a little overboard, but we clearly have so much fun buying for each other.    We spent the latter part of the morning outside playing with the new toys, of course!

image

And a day wouldn’t be complete without Champ getting all up in someone’s business!

image

I let the boys continue playing outside while I made my way back into the kitchen.   Roasted brussel sprouts needed my attention, y’all!   Man, those things turned out great.  Simply take two bags thawed out brussel sprouts, throw in a 9×13 with 2 tbsp. olive oil, slice up some bacon and sprinkle over the top and roast at 350 for 45 minutes or 450 for 30 depending on what you’ve got cooking with it.  Highly recommend!

image

Soon we found my mom, step-dad, brother, Gr’ma and little Lucy knocking at our door!  It was so great to have them come up from Clarinda this year.  🙂

image

While making the last preparations for our late lunch I managed to set our stove on fire.  Like, legit, full on flames coming out of the back burner.  It was incredibly impressive and yet NO ONE took photos.  I must train these people better.

image

Good thing our new stove is getting delivered on Monday.   I’d say it’s about time to let that old bird go.

Once the kitchen was under control we indulged in turkey, potatoes, stuffing, roasted brussel sprouts, wine, champagne and tons of sugary treats.  It was pure bliss.

Next up: gifts.  I was so incredibly excited for my parents to open their gifts from us this year.   We wanted to do something special for each of them as they both deserved it.

Dave opening his stained glass starter kit!  ❤

Mom with her new porch swing!

Gabriel hit the jackpot in the hat business.   I don’t think he will have any issues keeping that head of his warm.

The rest of the afteroon we spent playing with the new remote control truck, taking selfies and Clint harassing his son like only he knows how.
