Memorial Day Weekend 2015

image

In the 9 years I have lived in Omaha I have never really explored The Old Market.  I’ve been down there multiple times, eaten at many restaurants, drank at multiple bars, celebrated Bachelorette’s, Birthday’s and Sunday Funday’s but I have never really gotten out and walked around until Memorial Weekend.   And lucky for me I was able to explore it with my mom while she was in town with my brother.

We started with a couple drinks and appetizers while sitting on the patio.  It was a little overcast but overall the weather was gorgeous.

Next up a little walk to Cupcake Omaha!  Mom got a Red Velvet while I chose two sea salt caramels, which were simply divine.

image

.

They even sold frosting shots!  How genius for us frosting lovers!!

image

.

We continued to walk around the entire Old Market before ending up at Old Chicago for a beer while we waited for Gabe to get out of his meeting.    It was SUCH a lovely day with my mom and it was great to finally get to walk around the heart of my city. ❤

.

On Memorial Day Monday Clint and I were able to get out on the bikes for the day.  The weather was gorgeous and we were definitely ready to get out of the city.

.

We rode to Red Oak to drop off some paperwork to one of Clint’s former employees and then we rode back to Emerson to hang with Troy and Sara and kiddos for the afternoon.

.

Bubba was sure loving on Clint.  Can’t resist a sweet dog.

image

.

And I can’t resist these three beauties.   Sara has been such a good friend to me since we met in 2005.  Nothing makes me happier to see her shine as a mama.  ❤

A nice sunset ride back to the city and our Memorial weekend had come to a close.

One thing I left out of this recap is Tyree’s fitness competition that took place on Saturday, May 23rd.  I will get to that recap very soon.  Super proud of her. 🙂

Stay Tuned…

Graduation, Embarrassing Turned Sweet Sentiments, Saddlebags, Driveway Beers, Heartland Classic Fitness Prep and More!

What can I say?   A little break from the blogging world was in order.  I’ve got a few things planned for the upcoming weeks so as long as I can set aside a few minutes each day I’ll actually post some items of substance.

Let’s not hold our breath though, k?

For the FIRST weekend in a long time I didn’t have many plans.  Everything was set in pencil and low key.   For a girl who hasn’t seen a free weekend in months – I was overjoyed.

Friday after work I met up with Jessica at Brewsky’s for some happy hour beers.   Kristen was even able to swing by for a drink making it a mini-Vegas reunion!

image

5:30pm quickly turned to 9pm so we invited Clint to join us for some pizza before turning in for the night.   You guys… the pizza at Brewsky’s is amazing!  We added jalapenos to our “supreme”.   Oh yum.  Highly recommend.

Saturday

It was graduation weekend at IWCC and talk about overcrowded.   We were standing room only before the ceremony even began.  Record number of grads!  It was awesome to experience as always.

image

My feel good moment from Saturday:

After the ceremony I recognized a tall young man from back in my teaching days standing in the crowd.  I approached him to ask if he was a former Buffett Middle School kiddo and right when I touched his arm to get his attention he turned to me and said

“You are just so beautiful”

Wait, what?  Ha.

I processed that for a quick second and then asked if he was a former Buffett kid to which he said yes.

I followed up with:

“Well then, you might remember me as your music teacher”

Light-bulb moment happened in his eyes, said he thought I looked familiar and then again said,

“well, I thought you were beautiful then too”

LOL!  I remember this kid and his friend (who was an IWCC graduate) very well. Both SUCH great kids when they could have easily fallen in the rough crowd that surrounded them.  I sent him on his way (not before I found out he was a UNO student) and a little while later I saw him again with his friend, Bryce, who ALSO was my student.  Of course I took that moment to congratulate and shake Bryce’s hand on  his recent graduation.

If only I had my brain attached I would have gotten a photo with the two of them.

Bryce Armstrong and Brandon Carney = thanks for being great kids back in the day.  Your 8th grade class gave me a run for my money being a small town rural Iowa teacher transplanted to the city.  You were great kids then and it makes my heart happy to see you doing great things 7 years later.

Saturday Afternoon

The rest of the day we spent putting my freshly painted saddlebags together.  What a freaking test to our patience!

Champ of course napped, like normal.

image

Mid-day I received a text from Tina and Corey saying they were going to be in town and stopping by around 4pm.  PERFECT time for a beer break!

image

.

One driveway beer turned into many when more people stopped on over!  I love days like that.

image

.

We ended up heading out for dinner (which wasn’t the most pleasant experience I’ve ever had, but I’ll spare the waiter additional humiliation and take the high-road).  If you followed me on SnapChat you know what I am talking about (Find me at: harleyjordy).

Corey must think he has adorable dimples or something.

Sunday

Sunday we resumed work on the Harley saddlebag installation.  Again… a test of patience, but we made it!

Who knew that was going to be that long of a process?!  Yeesh.

The paint job is absolutely beautiful and Nick did SUCH an awesome job on it (Bonus: I have a neighbor who will be doing the pin-striping on it for me soon too).  Unfortunately, the whites don’t quite match up.  Not anyone’s fault, and definitely not Nick’s.  The bags are just SO much brighter white then the bike.  We are hoping it’s the amount of flake overlay.  We are taking it to Nick to get his professional opinion on it this week.  Again, not anyone’s fault.  That is what happens when you purchase aftermarket items and don’t go with Harley paint (which was like 2 times as much).  We will get it to match perfectly though, I have faith. 🙂

.

Doesn’t it look kick ass?  Totally transforms the look of the bike.

Now to get those pipes extended. 😉

Sunday afternoon I went for a quick 2 mile jog and 1 mile walk and somehow bruised the bottom of my foot.  Killer, man.

Then Sunday afternoon/evening I got to spend with Tyree.  She is competing in her first fitness completition this coming weekend!  She will be in the bikini class.

Heartland Classic

She came over at 4 so we could play around with her hair and makeup before heading out to her final posing session with her coach and several other gals who are competing.  I was surrounded by hella-fit women in ultra tiny bikinis.   LOL!

I am super impressed and PROUD of these girls.  It takes an incredible amount of devotion, dedication and focus to get the bodies they have.   Not to mention a complete lifestyle change that leaves out fun food and drinks and sometimes even leads to sacrificing social situations.

I was asked recently by someone how I don’t get insecure or jealous by attending these things and my response is “WHY ON EARTH WOULD I?”

First: They have different goals than I.

Second: They are on a completely different fitness and nutrition track.  As in, they are on one and I am not! ha

Third: I have a different body frame that I of course have some insecurities over (since I am up about 7 pounds now since last summer) but no way in hell would I ever compare!

Fourth:  When did not being proud of your OWN body and your CURRENT physique ever go out of style?  Blech.

Fifth: This isn’t about me, now is it?  It’s about those freaking rock stars on stage.

To all of you girls and guys competing this weekend, you are AMAZING!  I love your dedication. It is definitely something to be admired.

To the girls I have had the privilege of getting to see practice in these posing sessions these the last couple of weeks, I am so excited for you.   Your personalities shine.  You have never once shown a “too good” attitude and you have shown complete humility towards the others around you.

That is what makes you SHINE BRIGHT!

Meanwhile, I will drink all the vodka and beer and eat shit, like these ice cream cones we had this evening, for you.

I’ve got your back.

Monday

Cheers!

Where, Oh Where Could She Be?

Oh where, oh where has Jordan gone?

Oh where, oh where could she be?

She used to blog often but lately we’ve got nothin’

Oh where, oh where could she be?

Let’s see… lately you can find me at the gym, work, conference calls, traveling, bed, with the Hubster, on the Harley, back at the gym, etc.

My life is a chaotic mess at best – but it’s a beautiful mess.   Here’s the latest happenings in the past few weeks:

Just living life by my calendar!  A glimpse into a typical Thursday (my busiest days)

  • 4:21am – alarm clock
  • 5am – out the door
  • 5:30am – teach Insanity
  • 6am – teach core
  • 7:30am – work (busy time of year in the world of education!)
  • 4:30 – stop work
  • 5:20pm – teach Insanity
  • 6:10pm – stop teaching Insanity
  • 6:45 – home
  • 7pm- dinner
  • 8-9:30pm – Zoom Conference call for Master Trainer Ambassadorship
  • 10pm – bed… hopefully!
  • 4:35am Friday – up for gym again

Like I said – a chaotic mess, but I’ve got it handled.  haha.

.

Been thinking a lot about going back to school for two certifications.

  1.  Personal Trainer –  I need to bite the bullet on that one soon.
  2.  CISSN – Certified Sports Nutritionist from the International Society of Sports Nutrition

Now I just need to find the time and the cash.

…With two Master’s Degrees (that aren’t even being used – holla!) I can’t afford more student loans.  YOWZERS!

Cheers!

I’ll be back again someday soon with content that is far better then the above nonsense.

Weekend in Review 2 | April 2015

Happy Day to ya!  Are we all feeling mad love for this Monday, or what?   I love it so much, my mind is still thinking about the weekend…

Friday

Got in a little TurboKick practice after work.  There is absolutely nothing more humbling then videoing yourself while working out.   Uh, ya….  🙂  It’s a necessity as I keep perfecting my skills!

Beachbody Master Trainer-in-Training status quo, yo.

Following my afternoon practice sesh, we jumped on the bikes to run a few errands

image

and ended up at Voodoo Taco in Aksarben for some OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD taco’s.   Holy yummo you guys.  The Baja Shrimp is amazing.   Clint tried the alligator and warns you that it’s HOT!   We also tried the Barbacoa Beef and Smoked Brisket.  All two thumbs up!

image

.

After dinner the hubs and I just decided to kick it for the night at home which included a little backyard snuggling with Champ:

image

.

And some squirrel shooting for the husband.  Yes, it’s a BB Gun.  Calm yourselves.

image

.

I think this photo can sum up Clint’s three favorite things all at once:

image.

.

Champ never wants anyone to feel left out, so after he was done leaving his wet nasty slobbery kisses on Clint, he came back to me for down time. 😉

image.

And THAT wraps up our crazy and wild Friday evening, y’all!

Saturday

Insanity at 24 Hour Fitness followed by an all day cleaning session at home.  Man, it needed some serious TLC.  Kudos to the hubs for helping clean the basement too.  It was a muddy mess thanks to dogs and boys…. err, one boy.  Clint.

…who likes to still blame messes on Kyle.

…who is in college in another State.

{smh}

Then it was wedding time for my fellow Biker B!tch, Ashley!

image

.

image.

.

I met Ashley a few years ago via my hubby.  She is such a sweet, tender-hearted woman.   I did a Biker Feature on her last fall which you can find here.

image

Ashley let Clint take home one of her centerpieces which was made from a piston.

Clint helped get those for her so he got to take one home as a souvenir. 😉

Sunday

The Rain!!  Pouring rain and my friend Blair was running her first half-marathon.  No WAY was I going to miss it, so I jumped in my Jeep and made my way to mile marker 5.5 of the Gambler Half to surprise her.  I will never forget my first half-marathon and how I felt seeing my friends and family at that very spot and wanted to do the same for Blair.

She looked GREAT!

image

.

image

Way to go Blair!!!

I stuck around to see her loop back for mile 6.5 and then booked it back home for a quick towel dry (hello soggy dog) before meeting up for an 11am brunch date with  Jenny of Prairie Californian.

I met Jenny via social media about a year ago and through our blogs, Facebook and Instagram we have gotten to know each other.   She carries a strong voice in the Agriculture world, which actually brought her to Omaha for the weekend.   She also has the sweetest love story.  You must visit her blog and read all about it (among all of the other topics she shares her wisdom on).  Jenny is definitely an experienced and professional blogger, so you will get quite a bit more from her then you do me!  ha

Katie also joined in on the fun.  She is a co-founder of Rural Housewives with Jenny.

Both ladies were a JOY to sit and chat with for a few hours.   I had to let them go around 12:30 as they had one more stop to make before embarking on their 6.5 hour drives home.  Katie to OK and Jenny to SD!

I definitely look forward to seeing them again someday!

The rest of our Sunday consisted of computer work.  I started creating my Coach Sneak Peak curriculum and I will be ready to roll that out soon!   Very exciting to finally make some headway on that.  Stay tuned! 🙂

Cheers! ❤
