Our Harley Davidson Wedding: Part 2

Image

Our wedding took place at Westfair Amphitheater.  This was venue number 2 that was secured less then 3 months prior to our wedding, thanks to our original venue drowning from the crazy Missouri River Flooding.  Talk about last minute stress, but it all worked out.

Clint and I chose to walk each other down the aisle as opposed to me meeting him at the front.   Our lives were already operating as one unit, we had committed to each other long before our wedding date, and it just seemed appropriate to walk down the aisle together.

Image

My younger brother, Gabriel, played guitar for us. We chose the song Beautiful Day by U2 as we all walked down the aisle.  He did such a great job!

Clint had my ring custom made.  All his idea to do a bar and shield.

And how amazing are these cookies?  One of my besties mom made them for me.  She makes the BEST sugar cookies I have ever had.  Ever.  Think Loft House Sugar Cookies, but better.  Her cookies were the one requirement I had for food.

People ate, drank, socialized and as the sun set, our band set up to start the real party.

We hired Lemon Fresh Day and they rocked the reception from start to end.  We partied until well after midnight, others even longer.  I heard some pretty entertaining stories about hotel pool after-hour shenanigans.  🙂

Beer, rock’n’roll, friends, family and a happy couple.  Wedding Day Success.

Taking it back today to 9.10.11~ Our Wedding Day.

In planning our wedding we knew we wanted it to be totally us, no-nonsense, lots of fun, Harley-Davidson centered, full of our favorite people, lots of beer drinking and good rock-n-roll.  I think we pulled it off with flying colors.  It makes my heart happy having people still talking about our wedding day, two years later.

The Day started in a hotel suite with my beautiful bridesmaids, a lot of hairspray, makeup, champagne drinking and laughter.  Perfect way to calm a nervous bride.

Yes, I am hugging my own bottle of champagne.  I know how to do this right.

I will never forget his face.  He cried.  I might have laughed.

His First Look

At this point we loaded up the entire wedding party, plus their significant others, onto a party bus.  Yes.  We did a party bus BEFORE the Ceremony.  It was all about celebrating that day.  No stress, no Bridezilla, no worries.  Just fun.

We took the bus down to the Old Market, Omaha to where the train station used to be located.  A perfect place for the style of pictures we wanted.

After pictures we hung out at a bar for a few pre-ceremony cocktails and time to just relax and let loose before hopping back on the party bus for the 20 minute drive to the ceremony.

Nothing but Shenanigans, friends.

Girls Night Out – P!nk Concert!!!

Image

Went to THE.BEST.CONCERT.EVER last night!!

Seriously, P!nk is amazing.   Her energy, uniqueness, originality, quirkiness, artistic outlook, vocals, style, edge.  The fact that she is her own person and encourages non-conformity just ups her likeability by miles.

It was a fun Saturday night of dinner, drinks and music with 7 great friends.  I’d say that the majority of people attending the concert were females, also out for a fun Girl’s Night.

My crew met up for pre-game dinner and drinks at Brewsky’s.   It took us about 30 minutes to even find a place to eat as everyone else had the exact same idea.  I am positive that not a single one of us actually tasted our food once it was placed in front of us.  Inhaled it!  ha

Image

P!nk’s opener, The Kin, were really good!  Have never heard of them, but will definitely be looking up a few tunes to put in my iPod!  They had a little U2 flair to them, in my opinion.  Very unique style.  Kinda Cute, too. 😉

And then the wait, for P!nk!

P!NK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She didn’t hold anything back.  Her Acrobatics… Holy SH!T.  The girl is fit and fierce.

I absolutely loved her performance of “Try”.  She started out in her silks, singing her heart out, all the while gracefully and beautifully putting on a performance that takes guts, skill and strength.

She ended the song, Try, with her dance partner, which again, showcased her artistic ability, strength and stamina.  I love how she puts sexuality into her performances by way of grace, beauty and art.  Not one part of it is inappropriate or tacky.  Some artists need to take a few pointers… ahem.

Image

Check out this video to see her performance of Try.  This wasn’t taken at the concert we were at last night, but from another city tour.  Courtesy of YouTube. 🙂

She played Piano, drums, the whole bit.  She also made a point to remind us that she does NOT lip sync, and gave us a few pointers on how to catch people who are lip-syncing. =D

Image

Her closing performance of “SO WHAT” was un-freaking-believable!   Flying across the entire Arena singing and flipping… the whole works!  She is so bad ass.

Image

You must watch the video.  Do it.  Now.

I can’t even begin to explain how much fun that concert was.  I have been to so many concerts and this, hands down, was the absolute best.  If you have a chance to see her in concert, do yourself a favor, and GO!

Hope you all had a FANTASTIC weekend!!!

Brewery, Drunk Bus and Music

Moving right along with the 110th Anniversary of Harley Davidson road trip recap…

After a night of soggy sleep thanks to damp tents, we rolled out, ate some breakfast, stopped by a Harley Store for some shopping and then spent the remainder of our Saturday afternoon at the Delafield Brewhaus. This place is absolutely gorgeous!

The Iowa Hawkeye’s were playing the Illinois Huskies and since the majority of our crew are die-hard IOWA fans, this seemed like the appropriate place to partake in some beer drinking and football watching. But not before we all took turns taking pictures in this ridiculous chair out front.

ImageImage

If you are ever in the Delafield, WI area you MUST stop by the Brewhaus and order a flight of beers and the Cheese and Sausage Platter to start.   Ordering a flight at any brewery is a no-brainer.  You have to try them all, of course!   I was hesitant on ordering the cheese platter as I am incredibly picky when it comes to trying anything other then plain ol’ Colby Jack and Mozzarella, however, I am glad I overcame the hesitation.  Smokey, melt in your mouth, goodness.

Image

After we spent the better part of the afternoon drinking, gabbing and watching football, we hopped back on the bikes and headed back to camp.  It was time for the BUS!  Once again, the fine people at the Delafield Legion went above and beyond and reserved a bus for campers to ride into city for the final night of the 110th Celebration. We packed up a few beers for the road trip, loaded the bus, and off we went!

Image

Destination: Summerfest Grounds!  5 stages, multiple bands, tons of food, lots of drinks and some great people watching!  Once we made it downtown we rallied the troop for a group photo, knowing full well that this was our last opportunity before people started wondering off and doing their own thing.  The boys just love pictures.  My husband looks particularly thrilled, doesn’t he?  =/

Image

So, I mentioned the people watching.  Well, while we may think we are the only ones enjoying people watching, others are too, which makes us the source of their stares at times.  Apparently, we have celebrities amongst our group.  This guy wanted a picture of my hubby and John for his magazine.  Not sure the magazine, no idea who he is, but if you see this picture floating around the web somewhere, let me know!  Would love to see where their faces ended up.  ha

Image

On my #1 list of must-see’s?  BRANTLEY GILBERT.  Mind you, I’ve seen him a few times, but come on.  He’s just…. well… you know! Tyree joined me at his concert!  Thanks, Tyree!

Image

Oh, HEYYYY BG.  =D

Image

After Brantley, we hit up Katey Sagal.  NOT what I expected.  The music reminded me of Branson.  You keep doing your thing, Katey, but please keep acting high on the list, will ya?

Next up, ZZ Top and to close out the night, HALESTORM.  Gosh, I love Lzzy Hale.  She rocks out like none other and holy hell can she sing!!  If you have never attended one of their concerts, you must add it to your bucket list.  You will not be disappointed.  Pay attention to her brother on the drums as well.  He is out of this world awesome.

Seriously.  Go see them.  Now.

Image

Our group reunited at the end of the night for the bus ride back to camp.  Surprisingly, our night ended on a fairly low-key level.  I guess we were all anticipating the 500 mile ride home the next day!

Sunday morning we woke up to a gorgeous haze over the campground.  Gosh I love tent camping and biker rally’s.  Our vacation had come to a close.  Another group vacay in the books!  We are already planning our next trip.  Sturgis 2014, here we come!

Until next time….

Question of the day.

Do you vacation with friends?  How often and where do you go?
