Music Monday – Willie Nelson

Woah!  I have missed my little slice of the blogosphere.  I basically fell off the planet of existance for four days last week but I am back. It’s good to be back.   I’ll fill you all in later on that fiasco.

But, first- Music Monday!

This last Friday a group of us got together to see Willie Nelson in concert at Stir Cove.   It was a terribly hot and humid night, but we had an absolute blast.

Willie put on a good show, but I wouldn’t exactly say he sang a lot of his songs, but rather spoke them and added a few notes here and there.   He IS 81 after-all and he’s been in the music industry for an eternity, so I say he can do as he darn well pleases!

These three hooligans were primed and ready before we even made it to dinner.   Entertainment at its finest.

The place was PACKED.  The last show I went to at Stir was just a few weeks back, but it was pouring rain, so the crowd wasn’t near as it was this Friday.

Clint’s brother joined us for the evening – it was nice to have him along for the fun!

WILLIE!

iPhone pics just suck sometimes.

Clint made it to the front of the stage, but didn’t have his phone. LAME.  So, no up close pics from us that night.   Stir has a Great collection of photos on their FaceBook page though.  Check it out!

To end the night, a nice girl offered to take a group pic.

Ya… after a night of cold drinks, the boys turn into 4 year old’s who can’t sit still.

And the photo-bombers are classic.

Cheers, friends.

Life Is Too Short Not to Play in the Rain

This past Sunday night I had tickets to see Sevendust and Staind in concert at Stir Concert Cove.

If you don’t already know, I am obsessed with going to concerts.  There is just something about the live music and the atmosphere it creates.   You just can’t replace that experience.

So, the more concerts I can attend, the better!  I LOVE love them.

Stir Cove is an incredible venue at Harrah’s Casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

It is also a rain or shine outdoor venue.    Emphasis on the rain.

Because Sunday?

It POURED rain.

That is Sevendust up there.   They were definitely the only dry people in the house.

Tyree and I had no plans to sit this one out.  We don’t melt, after-all!  So, hats and rain gear it was!

And who else do you know that would pull out their 1999 cheerleading coat for a rainy rock concert?

image

Darn skippy I did!

Bonus: A few peeps were able to track me down thanks to the C-TOWN emblazoned on the back of that baby.

(For the record… there wasn’t a rain jacket on planet earth that could have kept us from being soaked to the bone after that concert)

Sevendust and Staind both put on a fantastic set.

We bounced about 4 songs shy of the end due to the bitter cold wind and pouring rain… and I don’t think I need to remind you that Tyree is just 3.5 weeks post kidney surgery donation.  She is a tough cookie, but it was definitely time to get her off her feet.

And, muddy grass wasn’t exactly prime real estate.

Thanks, Stir for another kick-ass concert!  I’ll be back soon.

Cheers!

Music Monday I

Spreading Holiday Cheer with Ugly Sweaters and Lots of Beer

It’s been a fun last few days. Today I’m trying to recover.

Cue Champagne Headache.

Let’s recap!

Thursday

Thursday was my last work day until January 2nd! That’s what’s up.

It was also my last day in Office #1152. I move offices and jobs after the new year. Exciting things are happening! 😉

Let’s hope I can keep a cleaner office in 2014.  New Years Resolution, perhaps?

20131222-134611.jpgNo one ever follows through on those things.

That evening my friend Jessica and I went to an Ugly Sweater Party at Omaha’s newest Brewery and Distillery, Borgata. It is owned by one of our hometown friends, Holly Mulkins and her fiancé, Zac. They just opened the doors a few weeks ago so it was great to see the fruits of their labor.

We enjoyed a crisp Pilsner, one of the best Bloody Mary’s and an Eggnog inspired drink.

I look forward to visiting Borgata again soon!

Friday

Friday was spent doing last minute Christmas present shopping, a little house cleaning and teaching my last TurboKick class for the 2013 year.

That evening we went to an Ugly Sweater Birthday Party for our friend, Shawn.  Some seriously hilarious shirts amongst that crew.

Saturday

Girls Night! Carrie and I met up with Tyree at her new house. Very excited for her! Beautiful home, cute neighborhood and a decent backyard for her puppy, Caza. We had appetizers and champagne at her house before heading to the Homy Inn.

Oh Hello, champagne on tap.  Can I interest you in a pitcher?

20131222-133639.jpg

We shared a lot of laughs and a few inside jokes over the yummy bubbly.

Stupid faces, free of charge!

The crappy iPhone photos make me sad.  My brand new Sony DSLR is being sent in for repair.  Unhappy camper here!  Don’t even want to talk about it.

Moving along…

After the Homy we made our way to the Ozone to listen to the band eNVy.

Natalie Thomas, lead singer, is a powerhouse and so fun to listen to.   I’ve seen them a few times before and they never cease to amaze me.

Sunday

And, so here we are at Sunday.   So far today I have managed to not do a whole lot.  I have finished wrapping presents, made a pasta bake, ran to the store and watched The Santa Clause.   I will probably spend the rest of the day picking up around the house and making my first round of Caramel Chex.  Every Christmas I get multiple requests for this addictive treat.  Recipe to come!

Have a great day, friends!
