Christmas Treats 2014

image

I hope this finds you all basking in the warm afterglow of a wonderful Christmas!  I am sure 90% of you are sitting in a sugar coma – lord knows I am.   I figured why not just go ahead and share with you the treats that have put me into this blissful state.

Top Left:  Cookie Dough Bites

1 cup soft butter, 1.5 cups brown sugar, 2 tsp. vanilla, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 cups flour, 1 Tbsp. water, Mini Chocolate Chips.   Cream butter and sugar together, add remaining ingredients by hand.   Roll into bite size balls and place into mini baking cups, store in fridge.

Top & Bottom RightRolo Cookies

1 box devils food cake, 2 eggs, 1/3 cup oil, package Rolo’s, powdered sugar.   Mix devils food cake, eggs and oil.   Take a Rolo and roll enough dough around Rolo to create a ball.  Place on cookie sheet and bake 7-8 minutes in 350 degree oven.  Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Bottom Left:  The best cookies known to man, Eileen’s Cookies.

Visit them at various Omaha locations.  <– link

Center:  Caramel Chex Mix, aka Christmas Crack

Recipe can be found here.

Enjoy!

Insanity Mania

Last week hit an all time high in Insanity class attendees at the YMCA in Council Bluffs, IA.   We are a smaller gym with a pretty tight knit group of regulars for Group X classes – so last Thursday hitting a grand total of 22 folks in class was pretty darn fantastic!

I try to be sneaky with my photos so I never get them during Block 1 Plyometrics.   The above is during Block 2 which consists of a lot of core and upper body work.

All 22 stayed for the 30 minute class.   At that mark I give them the option to stretch and peace-out if they want.  10 folks went ahead and left for a variety of reasons (weight training, work schedule, kiddos schedule, maxed out) while the rest of us chugged along right into Block 3 for the 50 minute class.

They kicked some serious butt – proud mom over here!

Due to the holiday we are on an adjusted schedule, but come January I will be teaching 5 classes at the YMCA, 2 classes at IWCC and 1 class a week at 24 Hour Fitness.  8 classes is a lot, but I am very much looking forward to the challenge and the excitement!

Come join me!  I’d love to see your smiling face in class!  Live too far away?  No problem… I do online groups as well!   I’ve got one starting on January 5th!

Cheers, friends.

Ugly Sweater Run Recap!

image

December 14th, 2014 marked the third annual Ugly Sweater 5K in Omaha!   Our crew had a great time dressing up, looking ridiculous and getting some good girl conversation while we covered the 3.1 mile route.

The weather was in the 40’s, a little foggy to start, but all together pretty darn great weather conditions.  It beats the 20 degree weather we had last year by far!

Some advice for my fashionistas out there.  Want some lipstick with staying power?   Go cheap and pick up some old school Wet N Wild.   That stuff would NOT come off.   My lips were this ridiculous hot pink for hours.   Hours I tell ya.   I think I’ll hit up Walgreen’s again and get a better color next time.   Who knew the cheap crap works better then the expensive?

A mini- pit stop for a reindeer photo opp mid run with the girls was necessary.

Kayla’s socks.   Dead freaking sexy.

Lot’s of holiday cheer happened post-race too!

Clever girls that Lora and DeAnn are.

Cheers to a great start to the Holiday Season.   What better than Ugly Sweaters, Buddy the Elf, Christmas decorations, hot chocolate and good friends?

THANKS to the Ugly Sweater marketing team for the tickets and for a morning of fun!

Test Drive for “Fun”

Do you ever go test drive a car for fun?

“Fun”

I think quotes are necessary.

Because, in my case, it is never JUST for fun.  It always leads to a purchase.

Every. Single. Stinking. Time.

Today…

Wait, timeout.   I am being rude.

Hi!  I’ve missed you.   December 10th is the last time I logged into this little ol blog. LIFE has been crazy awesome.  Haven’t taken the time to sit and write at night, nor have I had any time to really bake, cook, watch a movie, watch TV.  Whew!  It’s been a whirlwind December so far, and I’ve loved every second of it.  Now, it’s time to get back to a little nonsense writing for my silly little blog.

So, back to today.

My good looking hubs and I took off around 7:30 this morning to head up to Blair for some business purposes.   10 hours later, a trip back to Omaha, lunch, a trip back to Blair, one “fun” test drive, one “for real” test drive, some serious negotiating and I am now the incredibly PROUD owner of this little black beauty.

Yep… so long little white Jeep Grand Cherokee.   I know we’ve only been friends for 14 months, but I just never really liked you.   You were too boring for me.   Such a wonderful vehicle you were, and such a wonderful vehicle you will make for someone else… but THIS girl wanted something a little more edgy.  A little more badass.

I think I nailed it.

Jeep Wrangler Sahara.   Blacked out.  And just OH… SO… COOL!    I can’t wait for summer time when I can remove the roof of this gem.

Car shopping with the husband – always equals a new car.  I should have known better.  But, I have been eyeing Jeep Wrangler’s for quite a few months now.  Didn’t think I’d get one so soon, but when you get a screaming deal, you can’t let it pass you by.   And trust me when I say, we got a helluva deal.  No way would this have been coming home with me without it.

YAY YAY YAY!

Merry Christmas to me!

Until that payment starts in two months….

Now, to just figure out how to keep a black vehicle clean.   I’ve only had white vehicles since 2006.   This could get interesting.

Cheers!  ❤
